Sun-Blocking Roller Blinds for an Office Building Canteen

Sun-blocking roller blinds installed across the entire glass facade of an office building canteen

A recent VTP DECOR project was the installation of sun-blocking roller blinds for the shared canteen of an office building. It is a special kind of space: the glass wall runs along almost an entire side of the room, letting in plenty of light – but that also means direct, glaring sunlight right at lunchtime, exactly when the space needs to be most comfortable.

Why sun-blocking roller blinds for a dining area with lots of glass?

For a long run of large glass panels across many bays, roller blinds are a better solution than layered blinds or traditional fabric curtains: rolled up, they leave no bulky folds to block the view; lowered, the sun-blocking fabric significantly reduces heat and glare through the glass while keeping enough natural light for dining – without turning the canteen into a dark room.

Matching installation across the whole glass wall

Our installation team fitted roller blinds to every glass panel in the canteen at a uniform height and colour across the whole facade, creating a seamless, tidy look over the entire row of dining tables. A neutral light-grey tone was chosen to harmonise with the timber-slat ceiling and the dark furniture already in the space.

"A dining space with lots of glass needs natural light so it doesn't feel stuffy, but it also needs glare and heat control – sun-blocking roller blinds solve both at once."

This is an example for offices and commercial buildings with glass-walled shared areas – where VTP DECOR surveys the site to recommend roller blind fabrics and colours suited to the sun intensity and existing interior style, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all blind.
