How to Measure Your Windows for Blinds and Get a Quote
If you would like a quick estimate before our staff come to survey, you can measure your windows yourself and send the figures via Zalo. All you need is a tape measure and a few minutes. These measurements are used for quoting; at installation, the VTP DECOR technical team re-measures precisely on site, free of charge.
Step 1: Choose the mounting type
- Inside mount: the blind sits neatly inside the window recess for a clean look. Suits roller, zebra and wood blinds when the frame is deep enough.
- Outside mount: the blind is wider than the opening, covering it fully with less light leakage. Suits bedrooms, fabric curtains, or shallow window frames.
Step 2: Measure the width
- Inside mount: measure the width at 3 points (top, middle, bottom) and record the smallest figure, as real window openings are rarely perfectly square.
- Outside mount: measure the opening width, then add an overlap on each side. How much overlap depends on the free wall space on either side; note it down for our consultant.
Step 3: Measure the height
- Inside mount: measure at 3 points (left, middle, right) and take the smallest figure.
- Outside mount: measure from where the bracket will be fixed to where you want the blind to stop (window sill, mid-wall or floor).
Step 4: Send your details for a quote
- Width × height of each window (state the unit, in cm).
- A photo of the whole window and the surrounding wall.
- Which room, which way it faces, and whether you want full blackout or just less glare.
- The type of blind you are interested in, if you know. Not sure? See roller blinds or zebra blinds – which to choose.
